There are more than 2,300 known species of termites worldwide but despite their important ecological role of devouring dead wood and plants, they cause more than $1 billion in property damage each year. Because all homes are made of wood-based materials to some degree, it is important to protect them.
Dampwood termites:- Dampwood termites As the name suggests, this species prefers to feed on damp wood – especially wood that is either damaged or in direct contact with the ground. Stumps, wood, and logs attract moist wood termites.
Drywood termites:- Drywood termites the amount of moisture needed by these termites is drawn from the wood they eat. These termites can gain access to a home through wood or furniture and make nests in dry wood above the ground.
Formosan termite:- Formosan termite reaches homes through Formosan wood, the moist wood, and wet soil practically attract this pest, which is known to reproduce rapidly and cause more wood destruction than other species.
Subterranean termites:- subterranean species prefer warmer climates. As their name indicates, this type lives in the soil under and around homes. Those who attack the furniture attached to the ground.
